GLEN ALLEN, Va. (Aug. 1, 2024) – Prep Baseball Tournaments, in collaboration with the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority and Henrico County, Va., is excited to announce a new partnership to establish a state-of-the-art, tournament-quality baseball complex at Glover Park, located just outside of Richmond in the community of Glen Allen. This premier facility, expected to be completed by fall 2025, promises to enhance the region’s sports tourism and provide an ideal destination for baseball events in the Mid-Atlantic, a region well-covered by Prep Baseball's scouts already.

Currently an undeveloped 73-acre site, Glover Park is undergoing a major transformation that's been formally approved by county officials. This area will feature a new four-field cloverleaf layout designed by Prep Baseball, as well as two additional turf baseball fields adjacent to the complex, with competition aiming to begin as soon as the fall of 2025.

In addition to the baseball fields, the Glover Park expansion will also feature a 1.75-acre turf dog park, a 5k trail, two playgrounds, two new turf multipurpose fields, a restroom complex, shade shelters, and expanded parking.

"With the increasing demand for elite-level baseball tournaments along the East Coast, the Henrico facility will serve as a premier destination," said Eddie Tisdale, East Coast Tournament Director for Prep Baseball Tournaments. "We anticipate hosting over 35 events annually, drawing baseball players of all ages, from 8 to 18-years old, and from across the United States and Canada."

Henrico County’s strategic location, within a day’s drive of half the U.S. population and conveniently situated off I-95, enhances accessibility for participants and spectators alike. The area boasts essential tournament infrastructure, including hotels and restaurants within a five-minute drive, making it an ideal location for hosting large-scale baseball events.

Henrico County has been diligent in overcoming numerous challenges to make this project a reality, including delays caused by environmental issues and the presence of endangered Northern Long-eared bats. With the county's commitment and the expertise of Prep Baseball Tournaments, Glover Park is set to become a hub for sports tourism, attracting significant economic benefits and providing a premier baseball experience.

"Prep Baseball's reputation for excellence in organizing high-profile events and operating first-class facilities around the country is a perfect match for our goal to make Glover Park one of the top-tier baseball complexes on the East Coast and another addition to our existing quality diamonds throughout Henrico," said Michael McCormack, Manager of Business Development for the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority. "Under the project management of Henrico Recreation & Parks, this next phase of development at Glover Park is yet another major step forward for our residents and our sports tourism initiatives in Henrico County."
