Prep Baseball announces its dates, additions to the 2024 Future Games
February 16, 2024
Emerson, GA – The next edition of the Prep Baseball Future Games will return to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Ga., from Wednesday, July 24 through Sunday, July 28. Since the event’s inception in 2011, the Prep Baseball Future Games has evolved into the biggest college scouting event in the country, with more than 375 college coaches in attendance each of the last two years. The bedrock of the event, the 16U division returns, and we will again feature a 14U Junior Future Games division.
And, beginning in 2024, there will also be the inclusion of a 17U division for the first time ever. The addition of a 17U division will give college and pro scouts alike a one-stop-shop place to meet all their recruiting needs, as every player at the event is a high-level uncommitted prospect
“With the new recruiting rules, in addition to the growing impact of the transfer portal, more and more rising seniors are now uncommitted,” said Sean Duncan, Prep Baseball Report President. “Now colleges can see the best uncommitted players at the 16U, 17U levels while earmarking high-end eighth-graders for the future. Everything is on campus at LakePoint, so it’s super convenient for them to maximize their time and efforts.
“Ultimately, we’re really excited about this addition because it will attract all levels of college coaches.”
This premier scouting event has become the biggest recruiting event of the year, designed to bring together the country’s best uncommitted talent to perform in one centralized location. The four-day event begins in a controlled showcase environment that transitions into live gameplay, conducted throughout at LakePoint Sports complex, which boasts eight Major League-sized fields with brand new state-of-the-art synthetic turf.
The collection of talent attracts college coaches and recruiting coordinators from coast to coast – the 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games hosted 375 college coaches. This offers young prospects unparalleled visibility and an opportunity to make a mark on the college baseball scene.
Last year also saw a significant change to the NCAA recruiting rules, designed to slow down the recruitment process to ensure a more holistic evaluation of potential student-athletes. As a result, the 16U division at the Future Games projects to be more important than ever as it coincides with the eve on which coaches can begin communicating with this grad class.
Another natural byproduct of these changes is the increase in the amount of highly skilled incoming seniors who will still be uncommitted at the end of their final summer as high school-aged players. This motivated Prep Baseball to create a 17U division at the Future Games for the first time.
More details will come in the near future that further outline how the 17U division will be structured. Regarding the 14U and 16U divisions, they will be formatted similarly to how they’ve been organized in years past.
- Tuesday, July 23: Check-in for all players
- Wednesday, July 24: Showcase/workout day for all players
- Thursday-Saturday, July 25-27: Live gameplay across all divisions; 16U-17U divisions conclude on Saturday, 14U’s elimination bracket play begins
- Sunday, July 28: 14U bracket play concludes
Prep Baseball’s partners at Mizuno will continue to provide Future Games prospects with high-quality gear throughout the four-day event. Additionally, the players participating in the event will receive the full Prep Baseball Tech Package, which includes TrackMan hitting and pitching metrics, Blast Motion swing data and analysis, athletic measurements, as well as vision testing analysis administered by Vizual Edge.
