PBR talks with Butler Drew Small

PBR was able to sit down with Drew Small from Zionsville High School. The IF/OF ranked 21st in the class of 2012 is committed to play baseball at Butler next year. PBR had a chance to discuss baseball and the recruiting process with Small here is our Q&A.
PBR: What schools were you considering?
Drew: My final three school were Butler, Air Force, and Illinois.
PBR: What did you choose Butler?
Drew: I really liked the coaches and the team. Butler is also a great school.
PBR: Was it important to stay close to home?
Drew: It honestly didn’t matter to me. I know my family is glad I stayed close to home though.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Drew: The expect me to work hard and compete for a starting spot my freshman year.
PBR: What were your expectations about recruiting heading into the summer?
Drew: I was excited to see how it would play out. I can’t thank the Bulls enough for all they did for me in this recruiting process.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how to you feel that you will help Butler?
Drew: My speed is a big strength of mine and I feel I’ll help make plays running balls down in centerfield.
PBR: How has travel baseball helped your development as a player?
Drew: The Bulls have done a great job of getting me exposed to schools and preparing me for what to expect during the recruiting process.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Drew: All of the coaches I has throughout my career with the Bulls. They all contributed different bits of information to me that made me the baseball player I am today.
PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Zionsville?
Drew: I don’t know what the stats were, but it was a fun and successful year.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher/hitter that you have faced in Indiana?
Drew: Dylan Peters, he had control of all of his pitches and could hit his spots.
