On the recruiting trail with SLUH SS Mitch Klug

After leading St. Louis University High (SLUH) to a 25-1 record in 2011, one of the most successful seasons in school history, Mitch Klug  (right) is on the recruiting trail early on in his senior year.  Ranked No. 12 in the Class of 2012, Klug is a speedy runner (6.86 60) with arm strength across the diamond (81mph), while being a consistent line drive hitter with very sound hitting mechanics.

Currently, Klug is being sought by some top academic institutions on the east coast; including Harvard University, George Washington University, and Duke; as well as St. Louis University.

As far as where he is in the recruiting process, Klug told PBR, “I am now trying to narrow down my choices. Baseball is a big part of it, but I also want to be at a school that will lead me down the path of success after I graduate. I am looking a schools that have a good solid program, nice campus and has a coaching staff that is willing to put in the work to make the program better and have a good connection with me.”

When asked about his strengths that will help him be successful at the next level, Klug replied with “knowledge of the game, intensity, and speed.”

Last season Klug led SLUH to a 25-1 record, with a .364 batting average, five doubles, five triples, twenty RBIs, and twenty-five stolen bases. He also contributed on the mound, going 6-0 with a 2.33 ERA and thirty-seven strikeouts in thirty-three innings.

Academically, Klug currently posts a 4.08 (out of 4.5) GPA and scored a 32 on his ACT.
