RECENT 2012 COMMITMENTS
#44 ranked Zak Shockley, a 2012 left-handed pitcher from Cleveland St. Ignatius, recently committed to Marshall University.
#60 ranked Kyle Nowlin, a 2012 outfielder from Harrison High School, recently committed to Eastern Kentucky.
#82 ranked Jeff Edwards, a 2012 middle infielder from Canton Jackson, recently committed to Valparaiso University.
UNDERCLASSMEN WATCH
Eric Lauer, a 2013 left-handed pitcher from Midview, continues to see his stock rise as he makes the fall circuit. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound southpaw has displayed a consistent 86-88 mph fastball combined with a 74-76 mph slider, and a 76-78 mph changeup.
Jaden Cleland, a 2013 catcher from Northwestern HS outside of Springfield, is a big, athletic catcher. The 6-foot-3, 190 pound has shown well behind the plate. He displayed a clean release with a 1.96-2.05 pop time.
Kyle Michalik, a 2013 right-handed pitcher from Brunswick, has impressed this fall. The 6-foot, 165-pound prospect has displayed an 84-87 mph fastball with arm side ride. He follows his curveball with a hard breaking 12/6 curve ball that sits 74-75 mph. In addition, he shows signs of a third pitch with a 78 mph straight changeup.
Jaycen Newsome, a 2013 right-handed pitcher from Fairborn HS outside of Dayton, is a well-built prospect. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect displayed an 84-86 mph fastball coupled with a sharp breaking slider.
Jordan McDonough, a 2014 right-handed hitting catcher/third baseman from Cincinnati St. Xavier, is an impressive under classmen. While participating with players 1-2 years older than him, McDonough has more than handled his own. At the plate, he uses a short, compact swing with a powerful lower half that produces power to all fields. Behind the plate, he receives the ball well and registers a consistent and clean 2.1 pop time.
