Mount Carmel's Kravetz commits, and other news
February 25, 2010
John Kravetz, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound junior RHP from Mount Carmel HS, has verbally committed to the University of Illinois. Kravetz has emerged as one of the top prospects in the Class of 2011 behind an 86-89 mph fastball and a hard, sharp-biting slider that has the potential to be a plus out-pitch at the next level. Kravetz joins New Trier OF Charlie Tilson as part of Illinois’ Class of 2011 recruiting class.
Kravetz also marks the second Mount Carmel junior to commit already; OF/LHP Jeff Boehm earlier had verbally committed to the University of Kentucky.
In other recruiting news, John Frueh, a C/RHP from Oak Park-River Forest HS, has committed to Illinois Wesleyan.
Three players from Rock Island HS have named their schools: C Mike Wieland has committed to Iowa Western CC while 1B Cameron Mandel and RHP Michael Fisher have selected Kankakee CC.
Tommy Doane, a 6-foot-4 RHP from Homewood-Flossmoor HS, has committed to South Suburban College.
