More prospects are off the board
February 7, 2011
Jeremy Rhoades, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound RHP/C from Wheaton-Warrenville South HS, has committed to Illinois State University. Rhoades watched his status spike ? as well as his velocity ? as he showed tremendous upside over the summer. A physical, top-level athlete, Rhoades features a tight two-plane slider and a fastball that has climbed as high as 87 mph. He also opened eyes by running a 6.8 60.
Tyler House, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound LHP from Rich Central HS, has committed to the University of Missouri. House is a projectable left-hander who should see his mid-to-upper-80s fastball climb in the coming years. Over the summer, House transferred from Mount Carmel HS.
Mark Goldsmith, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound OF/LHP from Byron HS, has committed to Colorado School of Mines. At the PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase in October, the long and athletic Goldsmith impressed by running a 6.89 60, in addition to showing a clean left-handed swing at the plate.
Illinois Central College landed two more prospects when it received commitments from Mount Carmel C Cody Mirabal and Pleasant Plains OF/RHP Cale George. George hit .414 with 34 RBI as a junior last year.
