Michael Conrad Commits to the University of Cincinnati
July 16, 2011
Michael Conrad, a standout left-handed pitcher from Lakota East, has committed to the University of Cincinnati.
The 6-2, 205 pound product from Cincinnati is ranked as the #21 prospect by PBR in Ohio?s class of 2012.
Conrad, who relies on a mid to high 80?s fastball, compiled a 5-1 record as he lead Lakota East to the Division I state championship. He struck out 115 batters and put together an impressive 1.20 ERA in just under 76 innings of work.
At one point during his junior campaign, Conrad put together 28 consecutive scoreless innings. Since his sophomore year, the southpaw has continued to refine his array of pitches, which now includes a circle changeup, curveball, 4-seam, and 2-seam fastball. He has continued his spring success this summer as a member of the 17U Cincinnati Flames.
In a year short on left-handed pitching prospects in Ohio, Conrad?s services were in high demand. He contemplated offers from several schools, including Indiana, OU, and Toledo. When it came time to make a decision, he selected his hometown favorite, the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Coach Cleary and Coach Heilman have put together an impressive 2012 class, which started with infielder Forrest Perron (#7 PBR) and has been followed recently by first baseman Jeff Murray (#17 PBR), catcher Woody Wallace (#14 PBR), and now Conrad.
