Harlan's Rush commits and other news
November 22, 2010
Dontrell Rush, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound OF/RHP from Harlan HS in Chicago, has committed to John A. Logan JC. Rush, who?s ranked No. 27 in the Class of 2011, is the epitome of a quick-twitch athlete. He possesses a lightning-quick arm on the mound, where his fastball velocity has climbed as high as 92 mph. His arm strength also plays in the outfield, along with his 6.7 60 speed and overall athleticism. Offensively, Rush is somewhat raw, but he very well may have the best bat speed in the class. Rush has the potential to be a standout on the mound or as a position player.
Rush marks the third top 30 recruit in John A. Logan?s recruiting class. Earlier, the Volunteers received commitments from Teutopolis LHP Derek Thompson (No. 7 overall) and Harrisburg 3B/OF Keelin Rasch (No. 12 overall). Both Rasch and Thompson earned PBR All-State honors as juniors.
In other recruiting news, Marist catcher Pat Nelson has committed to Prairie State. Nelson was a standout performer during the Fall Prospect Program in the fall. ?
Josh DeGraaf, a RHP from Morris HS, has committed to Taylor University in Indiana.
Dan Cwiertniak, a RHP from Providence Catholic HS, has committed to Upper Iowa University. Cwiertniak marks the eighth commitment from Providence?s loaded senior class.
