Goshen Showcase Reults

1. Seth Huxford, RHP, Concord HS, 2012- As a 6 foot-4 inch, 182lb right handed pitcher, Huxford has officially positioned himself as one of the top arms in the state of Indiana. With a long, loose, and quick arm, Huxford is consistently 86-88 mph. His delivery shows a lot of athleticism, and will show his hip pocket to the hitter allowing him to hide the baseball and create some torque. He also demonstrates plus split finger fastball sitting at 74-76 mph, along with a curveball that shows some tilt at 68-69 mph. His frame and arm whip alone make him a high follow.
2. Cory Malcom, 3B/RHP, Elkarhart Central HS, 2013- Malcom (pictured right) is a 5-foot-11 inch, 185lb third baseman/right handed pitcher with a good frame for both positions. Defensively he shows a smooth approach with good feet, quick hands, and works through the baseball. Offensively, he shows a wide base and loads with his lower half. Malcom turns on the ball well and shows potential to hit for power. On the mound, he was an easy 80-84. He has a plus arm that works from a high ¾ arm slot, throwing pitches for a strike. His breaking ball has good tilt, and his changeup shows good sink sitting at 67-69 mph. Malcom could potentially be a two- way player on the mound and at third at the next level.
3. Cole Page, RHP, Northwood HS, 2011- Page is a 6-foot-2 inch, 178lbs right handed pitcher with good arm strength. He impressed PBR with his first fastball at the Goshen Showcase by touching 89 mph, easily making him one of the top unsigned seniors. Page is consistently 86-88 mph. His delivery will need refined, but his arm definitely works.
4. Ethan Bartrom, C/P, Huntington North HS, 2012- Bartrom (pictured left) is a 5-foot-9 inch stocky catcher with consistent pop times in the low 2s. At the Goshen showcase he impressed with a pop time of 1.97. Defensively, he shows a quick release and receives the ball well. Offensively, he shows a short, compact swing that will hit for a high average. He will mostly be hitter that hits for average, but does have the strength to occasionally hit one out. On the mound, Bartrom’s fastball sits easily at 80-83 mph. After the Goshen showcase, Bartrom has cemented himself as one of the top ten catchers in his class.
5. Trey Bickel, MIF, Mishawaka HS, 2012- Bickel is undersized athlete with a ton of arm strength. He is an athletic, 5-foot-8 inch, 160lb strong kid who runs a 7.16 60. He possesses quick feet and a quick release that allows him to play up the middle. Offensively, Bickel shows quick hands, and when his lower half gets through the ball, it jumps off of his bat. He projects to be a line drive hitter that works the middle of the field. Bickel’s best asset is when he’s on the mound. There he shows a consistent 83-86 mph fastball, with a 69 mph breaking ball with good tilt..
6. Alex Boos, MIF/OF/P/C, Cathedral HS, 2014- Boos is an impressive 2014 that can a little bit of everything. Defensively at shortstop, Boos shows plus hands and sets up the baseball well. Behind the plate, he demonstrates a plus arm with good feet, and threw an impressive 2.0 pop time. In the outfield his arm plays well with an easy 82 velocity. On the mound, he shows projectable arm action, was long and loose and mechanically sound. At the Goshen showcase he touched 81 a few times and showed command of three pitches.
7. Charlie Creighton, MIF, Marian HS, 2012- Creighton (pictured right) is a 6-foot-2, 190lb shortstop. He was a 7.23 in the 60, and threw an event best 80mph across the diamond. Creighton works through the ball with good hands and feet. Offensively, he starts open and then triggers with a high leg kick. When he is able to get his foot down, he shows a quick swing with a direct path to the baseball. Creighton has projectable power and stays inside the baseball well.
8. Michael Mason, OF, Penn HS, 2013- Mason is a projectable 6-foot-3 inch outfielder. At the Goshen event, he ran a 7.1 60, and was 83 from the outfield. Defensively, he moves well and shows athleticism, while also possessing a quick and accurate arm. At the plate, he is very projectable with his athletic approach. He has a slight toe tap as a load, his lower half is explosive, and he consistently gets to extension. With continued improvements, look for Mason to make a jump in the rankings.
9. Evan Witsken, IF, Saint Joseph HS, 2012- Witsken (pictured Left) is a 6-foot-2 inch, 175lb infielder with a very projectable body. He ran an event best 7.02 60. He shows enough foot speed and range to potentially play shortstop at the next level. His hands work out in front and he has a quick arm. Offensively, he possesses a quick swing with good pop. He demonstrates the ability to use all fields and has the potential to hit for power.
10. Michael Crowley, RHP/C, Chesterton HS, 2013- Crowley is a 6-foot-1 inch, 175lb RHP/C. At the Goshen event he displayed a 2.1 pop time. With improvements on his foot work and arm action, he should start getting quicker pop times. At the plate, Crowley demonstrates a quick, short swing combined with a good swing path and barrel whip. He projects to hit for some power and finishes high. On the bump, Crowley works in a “power L” and is vertical. His arm action is long, loose, and clean. He was consistently, 79-82 mph with his fastball, and also shows a plus changeup with arm side run.
Best of the Rest
Adam Moiser, RHP, Boone Grove HS, 2012- Moiser is an impressive 6-foot, 170lb right handed pitcher. He features a slight hip turn with clean arm action. His fastball sits at 80-82 mph and has command of three pitches.
Aery Pratt, Chesterton HS, 2013- Pratt is a 6-foot, 195lb right handed pitcher. He sits at 78-80 mph with his fastball and has a plus changeup with good fade. Pratt is a good sized kid to keep an eye on going forward.
Jack Bernacchi, 1B, Elkarhart Central HS, 2012- Bernacchi(Pictured Right) is a 5-foot-11 inch, 190 lb first baseman. He demonstrates good range and works well around the bag. Offensively, Bernachhi possesses good eye hand coordination and has pop to all fields. He shows an upward swing plane, with good contact. He is recently coming off a leg injury.
Joel Trewartha, 1B/LHP, Zionsville HS, 2012- Trewartha is a 6-foot-1 inch, 220lb first baseman/left handed pitcher. His best asset is at the plate, where he demonstrates good hands with a quiet approach. He shows the ability to drop the barrel on the baseball, creating backspin. Defensively, he works well around the bag with good hands. Trewartha also demonstrates good foot speed for his size with 7.18 60.
Riley Futterknecht, LHP/OF, Elkarhart Central HS, 2013- Futterknecht is a long legged 5-foot-10 inch LHP/OF. From the outfield he touches 83 with plus actions. On the mound is where Futternknecht is most impressive. He has a quick arm with an average delivery. He easily sits at 79-82, but as he continues to grow into his body, it is easy to project more velocity. His 67-70 mph change up shows good fade.
