Another 2013 prospect is off the board
August 29, 2011
Another Class of 2013 prospect is off the board when St. Laurence SS/RHP Kevin Smith verbally committed to Creighton University recently. Smith is a physical 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete who projects to be a legitimate two-way prospect at the next level. Smith has been the Vikings’ starting shortstop since his freshman year, and possesses power at the plate. On the mound, we’ve seen Smith up to 86 mph with it seems more in the tank.
Smith is the third Class of 2013 prospect to commit in Illinois, joining Harrisburg SS/RHP Ryne Roper (Illinois) and Metamora INF Spencer Gaa (Bradley).
In other recruiting news, Providence senior SS Branden Boggetto has committed to Southeast Missouri State. Boggetto served as the backup SS to Joe Houlihan (now at Central Michigan) on the Celtics’ state runner-up squad. Boggetto marks the fourth Providence commitment in the 2012 class, joining RHP David Hearne (Notre Dame), Zac Kutsulis (Notre Dame) and OF Brady Wilkin (Bradley).
