Prep Baseball Report

Wyoming Prospect ID Q&A with Cyler Lewis

By Jeff Markle
Director of Operations

May 11th we launched PBR Wyoming with much excitement. Our mission is to cover High School Baseball in the state of Wyoming 12 months of the year 24/7. We want to be your No. 1 scouting source for prep baseball in Wyoming. We are not just news stories and blogs. We are also a scouting service. We don't want to just help the nationally ranked player who is a blue-chipper and D1 prospect, but we also want to help the player who wants to play college baseball, and get exposed to college coaches. Wyoming is an undiscovered country for talented baseball players, and we want to have Wyoming be recognized nationally.
To Kick off our event season in Wyoming, we will be highlighting participants for the Wyoming Prospect ID on June 21st at Pioneer Park in Cheyenne.  Beginning our look is 2020 Cyler Lewis RHP/OF of Glenrock High School and the Casper Crush.

PBR:  Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:

Lewis:  I turn 15 the end of May, will be a sophomore next year.  I’m almost 5-10”, thin, long legs, big hands.  I pitch and play the outfield.   Pitching is probably my primary position.  Fastball around 70-72 mph.

PBR:  What would be your dream school to play baseball at?  If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?

Lewis:  Grand Canyon State would be cool.  My brother signed a LOI to play at York College in Nebraska, but I’m shooting for D1 or D2 at this point.  Dallas Baptist or Colorado Christian would also be a good choice.

PBR:  What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?

Lewis:  My faith and my family are very important to me.  I have a good travel ball coach that I’ve been with for 4 years. On the field, I have good speed, power at the plate and a good arm.  I have good mechanics on the mound.

PBR:  What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?

Lewis:  My dad and I attended a NPA Tom House pitching Clinic in California in March.  I heard a lot of good things from Tom that helped me and motivated me to work harder.

PBR: What does your off-season routine look like to prepare for the upcoming season?

Lewis:  I use the TuffCuff  workout and Tom House’s NPA workout guide.  Towel drills, light weights, bands, heavy balls. 3 days a week outside of normal practice.

PBR:  What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?

PBR:  What are your goals for:

This Season:

Help my team win.  Work on my control.  Gain another 3-4 mph by the end of the year.

Two Years:

Throw low 80’s by my sophomore year.

Four Years:

Know where I plan on going to school.
