March 24, 2019
SOUTHLAKE, TX - One thing we love here at PBR Texas is catching quality matchups between non-conference opponents on Saturday’s. Colleyville Heritage entered the game No. 1 in the PBR Texas Power 25 Team Rankings at 17-1, while Southlake came into the game at 12-9 Overall, and 4-0 in district after defeating Denton Guyer twice this week.
The Dragons got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning, thanks to an RBI Sac Fly off the bat of 2021 OF Luke Gornell. Colleyville answered in the top of the third when Bobby Witt Jr. scored on a wild pitch. The Panthers added a run in the top of the fourth when 2019 OF Jacob Guerrero tripled to left-centerfield and scored on a fielders choice double play ball. Collyville up 2-1.
Thats where the game stayed until the top of the seventh when 3B Austin Thorpe singled with one out, then Bobby Witt Jr. hit a no-doubt home run to left field to put Colleyville up 4-1. Witt Jr. came on to close the game out, and after Luke Slahor singled to start the inning for Southlake, the Panthers got a double play ball, followed by a strikeout to end the game.
Final Score: Colleyville Heritage 4, Southlake Carrol 1.
With the win, the Panthers move to 18-1 Overall, while Southlake Carroll falls to 12-9.
