Almost a month into the season and the landscape of who’s who in the state is starting to take shape. This week’s update of the Power 25 includes some big shake ups, the biggest of course coming at No. 1 as Stevens Point lost to an extremely good Denmark team.
Sun Prairie jumped into the No. 1 spot after the SPASH loss. Appleton North climbed all the way to No. 2 after a strong week beating two ranked teams - West De Pere and Oshkosh North.
The Stevens Point loss dropped them to No. 4, let’s not forget they did throw back to back no-hitters last week. The Panthers still have one of the best pitching rotations in the state and should make a deep run again this year.
Speaking of pitching rotations, the Denmark Vikings have a formidable staff as well with Juniors Tanner Umentum, Jack Collins, Riley Pelischek and Derek Van Pay, which is why the Vikings moved up to No. 6 from their previous mark at No. 19 after knocking off top ranked Stevens Point.
Ashwaubenon is the highest new addition to the Power 25 as the Jaguars seem to be for real with early wins over Bay Port and West De Pere. Wilmot also got in improving to 9-1.
