Evan Kruczynski, LHP, East Carolina (Franklin), 2013
9th round, 264th overall, St. Louis Cardinals
Report from HS: 2/3/13 - Long, slender frame, extremely projectable body, 6-foot-5, 175-pound left handed pitcher. High ceiling lefty, long limbed. Delivery is directional, a lot of knees and elbows, shows deception. Shoulders stay level, landing is square and finish is athletic. Arm action works cleanly, long arm action, high ¾ arm slot, quick arm action. Fastball shows excellent command, features arm side run and some sink, pitched comfortably at 88 mph, flashed 86-87 from the stretch. Curveball has sweeping action, sitting between an 11/5 and 10/4 shape, arm speed is comparable and throws for strikes, 74-75 mph, touching 76 mph. Changeup is his most polished secondary pitch, thrown with fastball arm speed, features arm side action and commanded the bottom of the zone, 78-80 mph. Kruczynski shows the feel for three pitches with command of two, his upside is tremendous and could be a high follow for scouts this spring. Kruczynski is an East Carolina commit.
