The 2014 Major League Draft takes place June 5-7. It will begin Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST with the first day consisting of the first two rounds and competitive balance rounds. The third through 10th rounds will take place on Friday and Rounds 11-40 will happen Saturday. The final two days will start at 1 p.m. EST. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
More than 200 high school players have been drafted out of Wisconsin since the event’s inception in 1965—40 in the top 10 rounds, but only two have been popped in that range since 2000. OF Jeren Kendall was looking to be added to that group, but he looks destined to fall past the 10th round and honor his commitment to Vanderbilt.
1. Jeren Kendall, OF, Holmen HS, WI
Kendall was electric on the showcase circuit last summer, using his speed and instincts to wreak havoc on the bases and track down fly balls in center field. He’s a plus runner, turning in a 6.48-second 60-yard dash at the Tournament of Stars and then swiped bases at will at the Area Code Games.
