Winter Pitchers Showcase: 2019 and 2020 Right-Handed Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the Winter Pitchers Showcase at the Bud Dome on February 19. Over 50 pitchers in the 2020 to 2017 classes from Missouri and Illinois attended and has become a top end display of talented arms.
Player profiles have been updated with velocities, profile picture, and video. We will break down the event, taking a look at the right-handed pitchers from the 2019 and 2020 class today. This group of 15 pitchers had six at 82 mph or better and three pitchers in the 2020 class. Four pitchers were from Illinois, eleven were from Missouri. Players are listed in alphabetical order.
Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

2019 - 2020 Right-Handed Pitchers
Zach Brickner, RHP, Liberty-Wentzville HS (MO), 2020
Brickner is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Brickner is a strike thrower with three pitches, fastball at 70-73 mph, locates to both sides of the plate,, curveball has 12-to-6 action, gradual break 57-63 mph, straight change-up at 63-66 mph, smooth tempo in delivery, repeats, slight stab, in line down the mound, loose arm action.
Braden Burcham, RHP, Timberland HS (MO), 2019
Burcham is a 6-foot-2 146-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Burcham comes from a high three quarters release, in line stride, short arm circle hiding the ball with some deception, fastball works at 73-75 mph, showed an 11-to-5 breaking ball at 60-62 mph, gradual break, change up at 68-69 mph, slender frame with room to add strength and velo.
Tristan Camp, RHP, Montgomery County HS (MO), 2019
Camp is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-hated pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Camp was aggressive in the strike zone with his fastball, mostly down, high three quarters arm slot, short arm circle, will drop down, occasional late run, 82-85 mph, breaking ball has slider action, 10-to-4 shape, shows depth, 71-73 mph, change up has slight sink, 75-77 mph, strong frame with repeatable delivery.
Brady Dolde, RHP, Troy Buchanan HS (MO), 2019
Dolde is a 6-foot-2 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Dolde has a smooth delivery with a fluid tempo, high three quarters arm slot, works in line down the mound, throws with regular effort, fastball at 75-77 mph, flashing late sink, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape and will drop arm slot for different look, 61-65 mph, come with late sharp break, change up at 69-70 mph, near fastball arm speed, some depth and arm side sink.
Luke Giliam, RHP, Chaminade HS (MO), 2019
Gilliam is a 6-foot-2 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Gilliam has some late running action to fastball at 78-79 mph, some on a downhill plane, 12-to-5 shape on breaking ball, 66-70 mph, gradual break, change up at 71-73 mph, arm side release, near fastball arm speed, delivery has smooth tempo, over the top release, long arm circle, lean frame with upside.
Zack Gronowski, RHP, Chaminade HS (MO), 2019
Gronowski is a 6-foot 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Gronowski has an over the top release, controlled leg lift, accelerated down the mound, throws with some effort, hide ball well, fastball at 75-78 mph, occasional late run, curveball has depth and sharp spin, 11-to-5 action, starts on fastball plane, throws for strike, change up at 67-70 mph, some with arm side release.
Josh Heck, RHP, Fox HS (MO), 2019
Heck is a 5-foot-11 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Heck has a strong and durable frame, over the top release, showed fastball command and ability to repeat release point, fastball at 75-79 mph, breaking ball had 12-to-6 shape, occasionally sharp, controllable, looks to be a good pitch as continues to gain feel, change up at 69-70 mph, near fastball arm speed.
Brendan Johnson, RHP, Frankfort Community HS (IL), 2019
Johnson is a 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2019 class. Johnson has an over the top release with an arm that works, in line stride, accelerated down the mound, throws with some effort, body stays under control, high number of strikes with three pitches, fastball has late life with two-seam action, 80-83 mph, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, 68-70 mph, gradual downward action, change up at 72-76 mph, down in zone, near fastball arm speed, occasional sink.
Brandon Kuchinski, RHP, Columbia HS (IL), 2019
Kuchinski is a 6-foot 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2019 class. Kuchinski comes from a high three quarters arm slot, slightly open with stride, controlled leg lift, throws with regular effort, fastball at 75-78 mph, straight, curveball has 10-to-4 shape, gradual movement, 67-70 mph, change up has arm side release, late, near fastball arm speed, 69-70 mph, throws for a strike.
Logan Payne, RHP, DeSmet HS (MO), 2019
Payne is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Payne show command of his fastball at 80-82 mph, some with late run, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, mostly 64-65 mph, showed a cutter with slight downward action, 76 mph, controllable change up at 74-78 mph, sinking action, near fastball arm speed, long levered, high three quarters arm slot, arm works easy and loose, throws with regular effort, projectable with frame and arm action.
Lucas Payne, RHP, DeSmet HS (MO), 2019
Payne is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Payne has an over the top release, smooth tempo in delivery, over the top release, body stays under control throwing with regular effort, fastball at 76-79 mph, straight, 11-to-5 shaped breaking ball, gradual break, change up at 69-70, slight sinking action.
Zack Ploch, RHP, Timberland HS (MO), 2020
Ploch is a 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Ploch throws with a quick tempo in delivery, in line stride with momentum down the mound, quick arm action, high three quarters release, late running action on fastball at 81-84 mph, showed a cutter at 69-70 mph, slight downward action, curveball has more 11-to-5 action, gradual break 64-68 mph, change up at 74-76 mph, occasional arm side run.
Treyton Ruth, RHP, Rolla HS (MO), 2019
Ruth is a 6-foot-1 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Ruth has a three quarters arm slot, loose with whipping action, lean frame projectable with arm action, shows command of change and fastball, slight tuck at balance point, works in line down the mound, fastball at 75-77 mph, slurve-type breaking ball with 10-to-4 action, 61-63 mph, change up at 64-67 mph, flashes sinking action,.
Ethan Schmitt, RHP, Valley Park HS (MO), 2020
Schmitt is a 6-foot-1 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Schmitt was 82-84 mph with late run on his fastball, high percentage of strikes, hard biting breaking ball at 77-78 mph, 11-to-5 shape, sharp, near fastball arm speed, change up at 75-79 mph, throws for strike, near fastball arm speed, slight late sink, controlled delivery, repeats release point, throws with some effort, athletic finish.
Dawson Taylor, RHP, Edwardsville HS (IL), 2019
Taylor is a 6-foot-3 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2019 class.
