Eastern PA Future Prospects Instructional Showcase: Catcher Analysis

Some of the top Class of 2016, 2017 and 2018 players in Pennsylvania had an opportunity to showcase their abilities on back to back days this past week. Today we will breakdown the top catching prospects from the Eastern PA Future Prospects Showcase on December 28.

SultzabergerJeremy Sultzaberger, Class of 2015, Susquenita HS
Sultzaberger is a 6-foot, 195-pound catcher from Susquenita HS. He was the starting catcher for Susquenita as a freshman in 2012 and helped lead the Harrisburg Junior Division team to the RBI World Series. Sultzaberger showed well behind the plate and offensively. The left-handed hitter used a 74 mph bat exit speed to drive baseballs to the pull side. With work, he could develop additional pop in his swing. Defensively he displayed pop times of 2.50-2.59 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch.

KroegerJoseph Kroeger, Class of 2016, Central York HS
Kroeger is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound Freshman who displayed solid receiving and blocking skills, but was most impressive at the plate. He showed pop times of 2.38-2.45 on throws of 66 mph from the crouch. The right handed hitter has a short swing path that produced consistent line drives. Kroeger displayed power potential that will be increased as he develops more extension in his swing. He used a 75 mph bat exit speed during one of the most solid rounds of batting practice on the day.

McKinleyMason McKinley, Class of 2016, Garden Spot HS
McKinley is a 5-foot-7, 140-pound Freshman who displayed a short line drive stroke that allowed him to consistently square the baseball with a 70 mph bat exit speed. Defensively he displayed pop times of 2.56-2.60 on throws of 70 mph out of the crouch. McKinley appears to be a very hard worker who should continue to improve defensively as he physically matures.
