This week’s PBR Player of the Week was senior first baseman Bobby Seymour (Mount Carmel). On the week, the Wake Forest commit, had 13 hits, good for a .813 batting average, four home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored. Click Here to read about Seymour’s early season success.
Every week we will note the players that just missed out on the award with our Weekly Diamond notes. Let’s take a look at some of the players around the state who had a big week last week:
WEEK 4 PERFORMANCES
Ryan Loutos, RHP, Barrington, 2017
Washington University (MO) commit. Started against Schaumburg and twirled a complete game, one-hit shutout. Loutos struck out 13 and only walked one in the seven innings of work. Barrington won the game 1-0.
Nick Kosmetatos, RHP/INF, St. Francis, 2019
Impressed with the bat and on the mound last week. The right-handed hitter, went 10-for-18 (.555 BA), with four doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored. On the mound he went 2-0, threw 11 total innings, gave up two runs, five hits, struck out 11 and walked five.
Grant Leader, RHP, Lyons Township, 2019
Illinois commit. Got the win on the mound and did not allow a hit last Monday against Oak Park. Leader went 6.1 innings, no hits, no runs, struck out 11 and walked two. On the year, Leader is 3-0, 23.1 IP, 7 H, 38 K’s with a 0.90 ERA.
Colin Fields, RHP, Libertyville, 2018
Fields earned a save and a win on the mound for Libertyville last week. On Monday, he threw the seventh inning and picked up the save. He struck out one and walked one in the frame. He then started and got the win on Wednesday. He ended up going 6.2 innings, scattered four hits, gave up one run, none earned, struck out eight and walked one. On the year, he is 4-0, one save, 24.2 innings, one earned run, 0.28 ERA and 32 K’s.
Collin Baumgartner, RHP, Piasa Southwestern, 2017
SIU-Edwardsville commit. Last Thursday Baumgartner twirled a perfect game in a 1-0 win over Carlinville. Struck out nine hitters in the seven inning perfect game. He was also 1-for-2 at the plate.
Noah Konie, LHP, Huntley, 2017
McHenry County JC. Konie went 2-0 on the week. He threw a total nine innings, gave up three hits, no runs and struck out eight.
Ryan Hampe, C, Sandburg, 2018
In four games last week, Hampe went 9-for-14 (.643 BA), with three home runs, a double, eight RBI, and five runs scored.
Gehrig Wynn, 2B, Benton, 2018
Wynn had a big week at the plate for Benton. In three wins, he went 7-for-11 (.636 BA) with a home run, six runs scored, seven RBI and three stolen bases.
