Week 8 Diamond Notes

Each week, WIAA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week honor. On Wednesday, we awarded the seventh POTW of the year, representing Week 8, to C Dominic Kibler (New Berlin West, 2023; Kent State), who exploded for seven hits, which included one double and three home runs, finishing the week with nine RBIs.
Inside of this Diamond Notes piece, we acknowledge the performances that fell short of that POTW honor, but are still deserving of some recognition here.
WEEK 8 DIAMOND NOTES
Donatello Badalamenti RHP / C / Notre Dame Academy , WI / 2024Badalamenti started his week off with a two hit performance for Notre Dame Academy in their matchup with Pulaski. He also came in on relief in the game and earned the win due to his efforts over three innings. In their next game, Badalamenti collected one hit in Notre Dame’s win against Sheboygan North. To cap off the week, Badalamenti tallied two doubles in the first game of a Saturday double header and finished with two RBIs. In the second game of the day, Badalamenti may have had his best performance of the week as he grabbed two hits, which included a home run, and finished with four RBIs. |
Landon Behringer OF / 2B / North Fond du Lac, WI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 64 / POS: 13
Behringer has been a name that has consistently been on our Diamond Notes list but for good reason. Last week, he continued his stellar season as he batted .500 which included three doubles and one home run. Behringer finished the week with five RBIs and six runs scored to help North Fond du Lac stay in all four of their games. He also showed off his quality defense as he tallied 14 putouts and also had one outfield assist. |
Wade Blakeley 2B / 1B / Badger, WI / 2024In 15 at-bats last week, Blakely grabbed three singles, one double and walked three times for Badger. Blakely was also a key run contributor as he scored five runs in four games and also drove in two RBIs as well. |
Noah Crawley 2B / SS / Wauwatosa East, WI / 2022In Wauwatosa East’s game against Brookfield East, Crawley came up in the ninth inning and delivered a home run to break the 0-0 tie and give Wauwatosa East. Crawley’s late game heroics did not stop there either. In Tosa East’s game against West Allis Hale, Crawley smacked a double and scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh en route to the Tosa East’s walk off win. Crawley finished the week with six hits in 14 at-bats to lead Tosa East to multiple wins. |
William DeBruin SS / RHP / Seymour Community, WI / 2022For Seymour, DeBruin was a key contributor in their perfect 4-0 conference week. In 15 at-bats, DeBruin grabbed seven hits to log a batting average of .467. His seven hits included four singles, one double, and one triple. His biggest hit of the week came against Menasha when he hit a grand slam in the win. Not only did he have a great week offensively, he also earned a save in their game against Shawano as he failed to allow a run and tallied three strikeouts over his 2 ⅓ innings. |
Tyler Deleskiewicz RHP / OF / Lake Geneva Badger, WI / 2022Deleskiewicz continued his solid season with yet another quality week for Badger. Offensively, Deleskiewicz tallied a single, double, triple, and home run, finishing with two RBIs. On the mound, the Wisconsin-Milwaukee commit was solid in Badger’s game against Westosha Central. In his five innings of work, Deleskiewicz allowed three runs and struck out nine to earn the win. |
James Duncan OF / 1B / Arrowhead, WI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 8
Duncan has been a key contributor of a loaded Arrowhead squad throughout the season. Last week he built upon his already impressive season as he tallied seven hits in 15 at-bats, to finish with a batting average of .538. Duncan’s seven hits included five singles and a pair of doubles to drive in five RBIs for the Warhawks. |
Eddy Eveland RHP / Lake Mills, WI / 2023Eveland has been a bright spot for this Lake Mills squad all season long. He continued his impressive season last week as he twirled a gem for Lake Mills. In his complete game efforts, Eveland allowed one run on two hits while striking out 10. Which was good enough to earn the win as the Lake Mills offense put up two runs. |
Noah Marschke LHP / Stevens Point Area , WI / 2024On both sides of the ball, Marschke shined for SPASH in their two wins of the week. In their first game of the week, Marschke went a perfect two-for-two with a double, and scored two runs as well. Marschke got the start in SPASH’s next game of the week as they took on D.C. Everest and he had arguably his best performance of the year. In his complete game efforts, Marschke failed to allow a hit and tallied 13 strikeouts en route to the 5-0 win. |
Matthew Miller 3B / 1B / Ozaukee, WI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 85 / POS: 4
Miller twirled an absolute gem for Ozaukee in their matchup with Cedar Grove-Belgium. Ozaukee rode Miller to the finish line as he failed to allow a hit in his complete game efforts. Miller was nearly perfect as he walked the 21st batter of the game but nonetheless this was a dominant performance from the Ozaukee senior. |
Ryan McCarthy SS / 2B / Badger , WI / 2025McCarthy strung together a solid week for Badger as he collected seven hits in 16 at-bats. His seven hits included six singles and one home run to lead this Badger squad. McCarthy finished the week with two RBIs and four runs in four games for Badger. One of Duncan’s most important hits came in Arrowhead’s second game of a double header against CMH where he hit a single that brought home the tying run. |
Brayden Olson 3B / RHP / Saint Croix Falls, WI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 1
Olson has been dominant all season long and he continued this dominance in Saint Croix Falls matchup with a quality Regis squad. The recent Future Game participant, twirled his second no-hitter of the year in this game. Over his seven innings of work, Olson struck out 13, and scattered just two walks en route to Saint Croix Falls win. |
Chayce Osterhaus RHP / SS / Markesan, WI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 14
Recent Future Game participant, Osterhaus strung together a productive week for Markesan on both sides of the ball. On the mound, Osterhaus dominated during his 11 innings on the mound as he allowed just one hit and tallied a whopping 20 strikeouts to earn two wins. On the offensive side of things, he tallied a pair of doubles, one home run, and six singles; to finish with eight RBIs and eight runs scored. This was one of the most dominant stretches we have seen on both sides of the ball this season and it was a tough decision for POTW honors. |
Tyler Soule SS / 2B / Oregon , WI / 2022Soule, a senior, had a historic week for Oregon. Throughout the week, Soule tallied nine hits and drove in nine RBIs to lead Oregon to a 2-2 week. Four of Soule’s nine hits were doubles, which made him the new career record doubles holder for Oregon High School. This wasn’t the first good week that Soule has had for Oregon as he currently has a batting average of .568 on the season. |
TJ Williams SS / 2B / Racine Horlick, WI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 71 / POS: 15
Williams has been a bright spot for this Horlick team throughout the season. Last week, Williams tallied nine hits in his 15 at-bats. Williams most impressive day came in Horlick’s win against conference foe Indian Trail when he went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Williams also utilized his speed as he stole nine bases for Horlick as well. |
Samuel Wronski RHP / RHP / Marquette University, WI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 79 / POS: 28
Wronski has been someone Marquette squad has leaned countless times this season and for good reason, he keeps on delivering. Last week, Wronski batted at a tick of .500 which included two doubles and he finished the week with six RBIs. Wronski’s play this season has helped the Hilltoppers clinch co-champions in the Greater Metro Conference. |
MORE TOP PERFORMERS
+ Lex Dupee (2022, Badger) Dupee is another Badger bat who had a solid week. In his 17 at-bats, Dupee tallied seven hits, all singles in four games for Badger. Dupee also got six innings on the mound for Badger. In those innings he allowed two earned runs on three hits, while tallying 11 strikeouts to earn the no decision.
+ Sam Polyock (2024, Badger) To round out this Badger pitching staff, Sam Polyock had a solid performance on the mound. In his six innings of work, Polyock allowed just one earned run on three hits while tallying five strikeouts.
+ Crete Slattery (2023, Badger) Slattery was another Badger bat who enjoyed a quality week. In his 17 at-bats, Slattery tallied five hits, and four of them were doubles, a pretty impressive stat. Slattery finished the week with five RBIs as well.
