Washington HS Scout Blog (3.14.22 - 3.15.22)
March 25, 2022
The HS Scout Blog continues with multiple games in this next edition. Starting with a cold, rainy showdown between O'Dea and South Kitsap. Dealing with less than ideal conditions, O'Dea got hot on offense early and cruised to a 10-0 victory that ended after 5 innings.
The next match-up took us to the brand new complex over at Juanita HS for a low scoring pitcher's duel that ended with Juanita taking home a 3-1 victory.
Notes and video from each match-up below...

3.14.22 & 3.15.22 - O'Dea, South Kitsap, Eastside Catholic, Juanita
Brady Foster, RHP, O’Dea, 2023, Gonzaga commit A high end arm in the 2023 class who continues to show progress. This was our first look at Foster in game since his breakout performance at the 2022 PBR Future Games. Dealing with cold, rainy conditions, Foster pitched 2 scoreless frames with a FB up to 89, sitting 86-88 and using a sharp CB at 72-74. Possesses above average pure stuff and will likely see an uptick as he accumulates more innings and the weather becomes more pitching friendly. Well we are underway on a wet and chilly night here at Bannerwood with @odeabaseball facing off against @skitsapbaseball
‘23 RHP @bfosterbaseball (O’Dea) gets the nod and ends the inning with a K. Working 86-89 with the FB and showing CB at 72-74@ZagBaseball commit pic.twitter.com/uR39CfEkv6
Asa Reese, INF, O”Dea, 2022, Pacific Lutheran commit Powerful senior with thunder in his barrel. We’ve seen 100+ mph EVs from Reese in event before and he delivered the game power on this look. Finished 2-2 with 2 2B, 2 R and 2 RBI. Power plays to all fields as both of his XBH went to RF
Davis Downer, OF, O’Dea, 2024, Washington State commit Advanced strength and physicality for his class. Downer has been on the scene for a while now and has really taken a step forward with his overall strength and athleticism. Drove a ball to RF for a 3 RBI double on this look. Doesn’t lack intent in the box, looks to do damage and is a constant gap-to-gap power threat.
Simon Adams, RHP, O’Dea, 2022 Pitched 2 solid innings of relief and racked up 4 K’s in the process. Mature demeanor even keel mentality. FB sat 82-84 with some ASR into the zone. Sweeping CB in low 70s is a consistent and reliable weapon for him. Uncommitted.
Patrick Galvin, RHP, O’Dea, 2024 Impressed with his overall size, projection and arm action. Finished the game with a scoreless inning in the 5th, dialing it up to 84 on the FB and pitching 82-83. Plenty more in the tank and likely will see gains soon given his overall frame and how easily the arm works. Also ripped off some tight CBs when ahead in the count. Uncommitted.
Konnor Sutton, C, South Kitsap, 2022 Recorded the lone hit on the day for South Kitsap with a dould that he scorched into the RCF gap in his 1st AB. Showed a quick, direct swing with some lift at finish. Behind the plate, did an exceptional job handling the game on a night where it was tough for pitcher’s to control the ball. Flashed a clean exchange into throwing motion and accurate ball flight on his throws down to 2nd. Plays the game hard at all times. Uncommitted.
Terrific hustle from both C @KonnorSutton (@skitsapbaseball) and the runner @jj_abner (@odeabaseball) on this bang-bang play at the plate

Brayden Hagerty, RHP, South Kitsap, 2022, Olympic College commit Battled through the rain while trying to tackle a tough O’Dea line-up. Big, workhorse type frame on the mound who should be a dependable innings eater this season. Worked 81-84 from a lower slight with some sink and run on the ball.
Bradyn Melton, INF, South Kitsap, 2023 Had a look at Melton during our preseason ID event back in Feb. Looks ready for a consistent season as he handles INF duties and finds himself towards the top of the line-up early on. Contact type approach at the plate and solid defensive actions
Drew Sanidad, SS, Eastside Catholic, 2022, Hawaii Pacific commit Gritty, high energy player who patrols SS with confidence and can create havoc at the top of the line-up. Went 1-2 with a single, run scored and BB on this look. Quick on defense & on the bases. Gets to top speed easily and looks to play fast. Offensively has the bat speed and hand-eye to adjust his barrel against both velo & spin.
‘22 SS Drew Sanidad got the offense going for @ECBaseball_Cru with this double@HPU_BSB commit keeps the hands back w/ 2 strikes & drives on the breaking ball into the LCF gap @drew_sanidad pic.twitter.com/f9Zk49HiaF

Jack Lee, 3B, Eastside Catholic, 2023 Powerful corner bat who has made impressive strides in a short period of time. Looks to do damage at the plate while also possessing a keen eye and strike zone discipline. Loud, hard contact when he connects and he should continue to show in-game power as he gets more reps throughout the season. Uncommitted.
#uncommitted ‘23 3B @TheJack_Leee swung it well for @ECBaseball_Cru today

Drives in the lone run of the game with a hard 6-3 and then starts off the 7th with a lead off single thru the left side@PBR_Uncommitted pic.twitter.com/xgBQAvxx6h
Logan Smith, RHP, Eastside Catholic, 2022, Lewis & Clark commit Went 5 strong innings scattering 6 hits while striking out 4. Didn’t allow an earned run. Pitches with heavy sinking action on his FB at 78-80 and mixes in a sharp splitter that he uses well to get swings and misses when ahead in the count. Big, strong framed athlete with a durable build that can eat innings.
Carter Avery, RHP, Juanita, 2022 Dominant outing for Avery on this look. Final line of 7 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 12 K. Attacked early & often with FB at 83-85 and a solid 11/5 CB at 72-75. Lean athlete with strength and body control. High ¾ slot with a continuous arm path. Controlled the zone throughout. Uncommitted.
CG victory for ‘22 RHP @CarterAvery18 (@JuaBaseball) with 12 punchies

Stayed in complete control the whole game. Only allowing 1 ER on 2 H & 1 BB. Only faced 2 batters over the minimum https://t.co/H9yupntred
Tyce Peterson, SS, Juanita, 2022, Oregon State commit One of the top players in the area for years now. First had eyes on Peterson back when he was starting at SS as a FR in 2019. Since then he’s added significant strength while continuing to be a speedy and dynamic game wrecker. Had 2 hits with 2 R scored and also stole 2 bags. POY candidate for the state of Washington.
Multi-hit game for ‘22 Tyce Peterson with 2 R scored for @JuaBaseball @BeaverBaseball commit legged out an INF single then lines a ball thru the left side. Also stole 2 bags. Lots of physicality in the frame now with strong hands/wrists @TRPLegend | @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/0ERKRCJVQq

Noah Kimura, C, 2023, Juanita Did an excellent job working with Avery as his backstop for the duration of his CG. Presents a solid target while maintaining compact posture in his crouch. Also started the rally that ultimately led to Juanita’s win with his single in the bottom of the 6th. Uncommitted.
