2020 Virginia/DC Rankings Released
The Virginia/DC 2020 Class Rankings are released today with the initial top 25. As with any rankings, there is bound to be a ton of movement and shakeup as this class moves into their senior year and the rankings expand. These rankings are a direct result of the PBR boots-to-the-ground approach to scouting, traveling the land through either our own Prep Baseball Report events or getting out to local events as well in our attempt to provide the most comprehensive knowledge of every state we cover.
Taking the top spot in the 2020 class is SS Quade Tomlin of Liberty Christian Academy. Tomlin was a big part of LCA's state championship run this season manning second base and providing a more than capable stick in the middle of a lineup loaded with talent. Tomlin will now man the shortstop position with Noah Cook now heading to his freshmen year at VMI.
At No. 2 is the imposing 6-foot-9 LHP Jake Berry (Virginia) of Bishop O'Connell. The pure physicality along with the ability to generate velocity with regular effort make for a very intriguing prospect. The injury bug hit Berry some this year but he was still able to show some flashes this summer of what a special arm he could be.
At No. 3 is two way talent Riley Eikhoff of Patriot HS. Eikhoff put in an impressive showing at the PBR Future Games as one of the few 2020 graduates in participation, topping out at 88 on the bump and has potential as a position player as well. At No.4 is RHP Avery Mabe (Virginia) of George Whythe HS who was 84-87 and touched 89 this spring when we got to see him this spring.
Talented Collegiate HS teammates Nigel Williams and Trey Boll man the No. 8 and No. 9 spots. Both are very intriguing talents and will be ones to follow throughout the fall and upcoming spring season on the recruiting trail. Williams is also a star football player, so it is unknown which direction he may go. Rounding out the top 10 is Walsingham Academy super utility player Tanner Schoebel. Enough talk, here is a look at the Top 10.
