Michigan Insider: Updated Class of 2019 Player Rankings (March)
As we turn our focus to the spring high school baseball season, Prep Baseball Report Michigan takes a look at the 2019 rankings. Many new prospects come into the rankings while many prospects have made jumps, some drastically. Below we will take a look at “What’s New At The Top”, “Rising Prospects”, and some of the top uncommitted prospects.

WHATS NEW AT THE TOP
As we bring the showcases season to a close, 2019 prospects continued to burst on the scene. Nebraska commit C/RHP Aaron Dolney (Country Day) has claimed the state’s No. 1 ranking. Dolney had one of the best performances on the day at our Preseason All-State amongst the top players in Michigan. Michigan State commit RHP Christopher Mokma (Holland Christian) is in the second spot followed by Michigan commit LHP Colin Czajkowski (Woodhaven) and MSU commit SS/RHP Dillon Kark (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s).

Aaron Dolney C / RHP / Detroit Country Day, MI / 20196-foot-3, 210-pound strong bodied prospect is a legitimate two-way prospect. At the plate swings from the left side making a solid contact. Bat makes a loud sound off the bat showcasing big time power with a short swing. Pop time was 1.81-1.90. On the mound uses his tall frame to his advantage throwing downhill with his fastball up to 90 mph. |

Colin Czajkowski LHP / OF / Woodhaven, MI / 20196-foot-4, 185-pound long wiry LHP prospect has continued his climb since last summer’s Future Games. Has unbelievable upside and continues to get better each time we see him. Showcasing a loose arm action with good deception was up to 88 mph. Sharp breaking curve and late breaking slider will give hitters fits. Also flashes a sinking change up thrown with the same arm speed as his fastball. |

C Colin Sparks (Airport) and RHP Alex Stephens saw notable rises in the rankings after careful review, surveying the summer and winter.

Sparks, 5-foot-10, 190-pound strong bodied prospect has a stiff wrist while receiving presenting a good target behind the dish. Quick feet and a smooth glove to hand transition throwing down to 2B. Pop time ranges 1.92-1.95 with consistent accuracy. At the plate makes good contact driving the ball to the pull side and up the middle. |

Alex Stephens RHP / 1B / Allendale, MI / 2019Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 6
Stephens, 6-foot-6, 235-pound prospect was extremely impressive during the Diamond’s scout day. A tall strong framed arm worked at a moderate pace on the mound moving to his leg lift from a high-¾ arm angle. Fastball was thrown with a heavy feel sitting 85-88 mph while touching 90 mph. 11/5 break on the curveball 70-73 mph. Changeup showed good deception at 71-73 mph. |
