Updated 2022 Player Rankings

Matt Miller
State Director

As the summer closes out there was plenty of movement in the 2022 class rankings this year. This senior class looks to be very deep and full of big time talent, with several players that could potentially find themselves in 2022 MLB draft room talks.

The emergence of Madison Central's Ross Highfill has been steady and particularly fun to watch. Over the past year and a half Highfill, a Mississippi State commit, has positioned himself into arguably the top high school catching prospect in the state and is receiving lots of attention across America. Watching his receiving ability and his maturity at handling the Jaguar pitching staff was fantastic. Throwing in his production at the plate and leadership are major reasons why Highfill now finds himself at the top spot of Mississippi’s outstanding 2022 class.

Below are a few more big movers over the past several months…..

Bradley Loftin, LHP, DeSoto Central, 2022

The Mississippi State recruit sets himself apart with a deadly changeup that mimics a fastball that works up to 89 mph and a curveball that he uses very well to both sides of the plate. His stuff along with the ability to keep hitters off balance should allow him to jump right in at the next level.

Jake Cook, OF/LHP, Madison Central, 2022

Arguably the top 9 hole hitter in America last season during the Jaguars impressive championship season, I would look for Cook to move up in a lineup that lost a few big time bats. He should also see considerably more time on the mound and brings a 90 mph fastball with him to the rubber.

JB Middleton, RHP, Benton Academy, 2022

The lean, loose armed Middleton burst onto the scene at the Mississippi All State Games held at Mississippi College in June and continued to gain attention throughout the summer. With good run to a fastball that reaches 91 mph, and lots of depth and 12/6 shape to his curveball, the Benton Academy product was recently locked up by Southern Mississippi.
