Today's unsigned senior spotlight is Kyle Kutzler. Kutzler is a 2013 graduate of Kenosha Tremper HS where he uses his skills on both sides of the field for the Trojans. The two-way talent shows upside on the mound as he tries to follow in the footsteps of his father Jerry. Jerry was a 6th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 1987 and broke into the big leagues on April 28, 1990.
The Kutzler's are a baseball family, Kyle also has a younger brother, Keith, who is going into his freshman season at Tremper. There's a chance we could see the younger Keith pitching along side Kyle this season on the varsity club.
Kyle Kutzler is a physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound two-way talent who shows considerable upside on the mound. Operating from a high 3/4 arm slot, the right-hander topped out at 83 mph, sitting at 82, with his fastball. He also features a 64-68 mph breaking ball coupled with a 61-64 mph change up.
Offensively, Kutzler is a left-handed hitter who demonstrated raw pull-side power with good barrel whip through the zone. Defensively, Kutzler exhibited solid footwork and soft hands at first base.
