Director, PBR Indiana
Today's Unsigned Senior Spotlight is on East Noble SS/RHP, Matt Patton. The unsigned senior is currently ranked No. 47 in Indiana's 2014 class and was a member of Team Indiana at the 2012 Midwest Future Games.
Patton has attended multiple PBR events throughout his high school career, including last June's Top Prospect Games at Indiana University. There, he proved again to be an all-around solid baseball player. The 6-foot, 170 pound Patton runs a 6.91 60, and displays fluid footwork at SS. Across the infield he's 81 mph and consistently plays through the baseball. Patton has an overall good feel for the position.
On the mound at the Top Prospect Games, Patton showed a heavy 85 mph fastball, and showed improvement all around as a pitcher, throwing lots of strikes. From a 3/4 arm slot he throws a hard breaking ball at 75-78 with a 10/4 shape.
At the plate he gets to extension well with a long path to the baseball. He consistently barrels up the baseball with hard contact. Patton projects to hit for a high average.
