Arkansas Scouting Director
Ku’Ron Summons is a 5-foot-7, 160-pound OF from Maumelle High School. He has a medium frame and an athletic build. Defensively, Summons is a very instinctive gap to gap center fielder. He throws the ball up to 83 mph from the outfield with a shorter arm action. Offensively, he starts from an athletic stance he has fluid load, he attacks the ball with an uphill bat path.
As a junior he hit .370 with 18RBI’s, 8 doubles, and 1 home run. Summons is expected to lead the hornets this year as a spark at the top of line up and a defensive stand out in centerfield. Coach Davis speaks highly of him both on and off the field. “Ku’ron is a good kid that works at his craft and stays out of trouble of the field. On the field I believe he is the best defensive centerfielder in the state”, Maumelle High School Head Coach Barrett Davis.
Summons is a premium defender and a raw athlete still figuring some things out at the plate. If he will continue to improve his offensive game I believe he can be a quality player at the next level. At this point in his career he lifts the ball too often for a premium runner that hits from the left side.
