Chance Bodine, C, Bethlehem HS, 2015
At 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Bodine possesses a strong and athletic frame while showing good athleticism from his catcher position
Bodine has attended multiple PBR Kentucky events and has proven himself to be a solid receiver. His athleticism allows for good lateral movement behind the plate, and he has shown to be an accurate thrower of the baseball to second base. Bodine’s best arm strength from the catcher position has registered at 74 mph, and his best pop time has checked in at 1.97 with most of his throws in the 2.0-2.1 range.
Offensively, the right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride and shows good use of his strong lower half. He generates good bat speed through the zone as his 91 mph exit velocity would suggest, and shows good pull-side power. Bodine certainly has the potential to develop into a consistent power threat at the next level.
Bodine had a breakout season as a junior last spring at Bethlehem. Look for him to be a key figure, both defensively, and as a middle-of-the-order bat for the Eagles this spring.
