Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Ben Powell, Brebeuf Jesuit HS

Today's Unsigned Senior Spotlight is on No. 44 ranked Ben Powell, an OF from Brebeuf Jesuit High School.
Powell is a 6-foot-2, 205 pound unsigned senior that shows good athleticism with a strong lower half and wide shoulders. Powell was a participant in the Top Prospect Games in June where he was 81 mph from the outfield. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Defensively he moves well, showing good hands and a clean exchange.
At the plate Powell starts with an athletic setup and hits from a crouch position. The stride is short and he gets good use of his lower half. Powell displayed some present bat speed with a long path to the baseball. He consistently barrels up the baseball with some projectable power. Off the tee he posted an exit velo of 84 mph.
For Brebeuf last spring, Powell finished the year hitting an astounding .493 with 13 2B, 24 RBI, and 2 HR.
