Today’s unsigned senior spotlight is on the multi-positional talents of Beau Zeihen. Zeihen is an athletic 6-foot-3, 170-pound catcher and outfielder from Portage HS. Last season Zeihen helped lead the Warriors to a Division 2 state title as they defeated Ellsworth HS 8-3. Zeihen proved to be instrumental in tournament play as he hit .333 throughout the tournament with a .428 average in sectional play.
Zeihen is coming off of Tommy John surgery and will hopefully be ready to contribute defensively this season. Zeihen is on schedule and is already swinging the bat, and swinging it well.
At the plate, Zeihen displays a short path to the baseball, he is a gap to gap hitter who looks to work the middle of the field, and his swing shows solid extension and balance throughout.
Zeihen shows advanced athleticism and feel for the game. He shows the ability to play both the outfield and catch. Defensively, he shows the ability to play through the baseball well in the outfield. He uses an aggressive crow hop with advanced outfield action and excellent lateral movement. His foot speed is excellent as he runs a 6.79 in the 60.
Behind the plate Zeihen shows excellent flexibility. His setup is quiet and low, he features soft hands receiving the baseball and is quick on his feet when blocking to both sides.
Zeihen will be a highly sought after senior as he shows excellent athleticism in all facets of his game.
