Unsigned Senior Showcase: Middle Infield Analysis

On Sunday, December 14 a total of 37 unsigned seniors convened at Legends Sports Academy for the PBR Kentucky Winter Unsigned Senior Showcase. The group produced some very impressive performances which we will feature over the coming days.
The following is a look at the group of middle infielders that participated at the event. This is position player analysis only. Those middle infielders that also pitched at the event will have their pitching evaluations featured in a separate article.
Aaron McGeorge, RHP/SS/OF, R/R, Henry Clay HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 155-pound prospect has room to fill in frame, plays bigger than size, quick-twitch athlete with ability to play multiple positions, big arm strength, 85 mph across the infield, 91 mph from outfield, athletic actions at both positions, moves well laterally with soft hands, accurate arm. Right-handed hitter hits from an open stance, squares front side with medium stride, line drive type hitter likes to use the middle of the field, generates bat speed with some hand quickness, 88 mph exit velocity, showed some speed with 4.46 home to first time,
Sean Lawrence, RHP/SS, R/R, Simon Kenton HS, 2015
5-foot-11, 200-pound prospect, stocky build, right-handed hitter hits from an open stance, squares front side with a short stride, loose hands create some barrel whip through the zone, took a solid round of batting practice consistently squaring the baseball, shows flashes of gap power, registered 86 mph exit velocity, 4.74 home to first base time. Defensively, shows fluid footwork and plays through the ball well, hands are soft, good body control, long arm action, high-3/4 slot, good arm strength with 83 mph velocity across the infield.
CJ Phillips, SS, R/R, Holy Cross HS, 2015
6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect with lanky build, right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance and uses a short stride, line drive type hitter with ability to make hard contact to all fields, showed an increase in bat speed from previous event with 85 mph exit velocity, posted a 4.59 home to first base time. Defensively, showed improved footwork from previous event, works through the baseball, quick exchange and gets rid of the ball with short arm action and ¾ slot, 77 mph arm strength across the infield with accurate throws, had some trouble with backhand play on this occasion, good frame that projects well with added strength gains.
Corey Zylinski, 2B, R/R, Thomas Nelson HS, 2015
5-foot-7, 150-pound prospect, smaller build, improved every measurable significantly from previous event attended. Right-handed hitter hits from an open stance with a short stride, showed some improvement in use of lower half, level swing, line drive type hitter that makes hard contact to the middle of the field, registered 78 mph exit velocity and ran 4.59 down the line. Defensively, shows good lateral movement, average hands, gets rid of the ball through high-3/4 slot with some accuracy, 75 mph arm strength across infield, committed to Campbellsville following the event.
Brett Whaley, SS/RHP, R/R, Jeffersontown HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect, right-handed hitter hits from an open stance and uses a medium length stride, shows average bat speed, 79 mph exit velocity, line drive type hitter that uses a gap to gap approach, posted a 4.93 home to first base time. Defensively, shows average hands, decent footwork and lateral movement, gets rid of the ball through ¾ to high-3/4 arm slot, 77 mph arm strength across the infield, accurate throws to first base.
Tyrek Leverette, 2B, R/R, Central HS, 2015
6-foot, 165-pound prospect with lanky build and significant room to fill in frame, right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, longer swing path, line drive type hitter, offensive game will benefit from added strength, 71 mph exit velocity off the tee, ran 4.99 home to first base time. Defensively, showed adequate hands in making all plays, fields ball on heels at times, long exchange, high ¾ slot, 73 mph arm strength across the infield, some accurate throws to first base.
