Reid Renollet had an exciting 2013 baseball season as his high school team, Tinora, advanced to the state final four for the third year in a row and his summer team, Napoleon River Bandits, advanced to the American Legion World Series (one of eight teams out of over 5,000 programs across the nation). 

Renollet was an integral part of both of those teams, being the two-hole hitter on each of the teams. For the River Bandits, the lefty batted .335 in 245 plate appearances, scoring 44 runs while walking 28 times and having an OBP of .439.

For Renollet's high school team, the lefty has a career BA of .364. On the mound, the southpaw has a 9-0 record with an ERA under 2.00. Renollet has 49 K's in 50 1/3 innings in his career. During the 2013 season the southpaw developed some minor arm trouble which limited him to DH for much of the second half of the season before resuming his duties in center field in the postseason. But Renollet is over his arm troubles and is ready to have a stellar senior season under veteran head coach Brent Renollet, Reid's father.

Renollet is showing his athleticism this fall, as he is an integral part of the Tinora football team who is currently 7-1 on the season, 8th in state rankings in Division 6 and 1st in the computer points in region 20. Renollet is a WR/DB who has 10 interceptions on the season (which is a school record, breaking fellow unsigned senior Derek Drewes record of seven from last season). Drewes also has seven interceptions this season as well. 

What schools are you deciding between? What do you like about each school? How is your relationship with the coaching staffs at each school?

Right now I am talking to Siena Heights and have a good relationship with them. I am also talking to Galludet. 

What schools have you visited? Are you taking any visits soon?

I am taking an official visit to Siena Heights in a few weeks. 

Do you have a leader right now?

No leader. 

What did you do this last summer baseball wise? How was the competition? How did you do? How did summer ball help you improve as a baseball player?

I played for the Napoleon River Bandits against very good competition. I hit .335  batting second in the order and was a regular in center field. It was a great experience.

Being a two-way athlete is there any thought on what you would like to play in college? 

I would like to play both or whichever position I would help my team win. 

Coaches always want to know a players baseball intelligence, let me know your mindset at the play as a hitter. What you are trying to accomplish?

Batting second, my mindset first and foremost is to get on base any way I can or move the runners on base into scoring position. 

Being a three-year starter (and backup on the state team as a freshman) and making long runs to state three years in a row, what has that experience been like and how has it helped you grow and improve as a baseball player?

Going to state the past three years has helped me tremendously as a baseball player. I have proven that I can play with the best. I have proven that I can handle the pressure as well with winning the league 5 years in a row, going to state 3 years in a row, and being the coaches kid. 

I know you had some arm troubles this past season. What have you done to work on your arm and are the arm troubles behind you? Do you feel like you can be the ace Tinora needs this season to take the next step to a state championship?

I definitely feel I can be the ace. I have confidence in myself because of pitching deep in the tournament my sophomore year. My arm troubles are behind me and hopefully I can be as successful as I have been in the past. 

Talk about the pitches you have, when you like to use them, the confidence you have in each pitch, etc...

I have confidence in all three pitches I throw. I can throw all of them for strikes and can locate them well.  I use my changeup any time in the count and my fastball to get ahead of batters. My curveball is my out pitch with the changeup as well. 

How would you describe the success of your legion season and the trip to the American Legion World Series?

We had a ton of success this summer. We made it to the American Legion World Series and won a lot of games. It was a tremendous experience as I made friends of a lifetime that I was with all summer on trips.  

Now go in depth a bit about the experience you had with the River Bandits (playing in Alaska, Nebraska, Minnesota) and what you learned while playing against better competition.

With the Bandits traveling was a huge factor. We got to do many neat things like go to the College World Series and go deep sea fishing in Alaska. I learned to always stay within yourself because a lead change can change just like that when you are playing good competition.  

What do you wish to improve on from your junior to your senior year?

I plan to gain a few mph. Touching 83-84 last year hopefully this winter I can get up to 86-87. I also want to improve my overall strength.
