We catch up with David Dobrinich today, a OF/LHP from Mount Carmel HS, Class of 2014.
"Dobrinich is a lanky 5-foot-11, 150-pound left-handed hitting two-way player. At the plate, Dobrinich has an open setup and a level bat path with a line drive approach to his swing. On the mound, Donbrinich showed some rhythm, throwing from over the top. The left-hander has three pitches: a 76 mph fastball that was thrown with easy effort, a 67 mph curveball, and a 59-66 mph changeup."

PBR: Have you ever attended a Prep Baseball Report event? If so what were your impressions of the event?
Dobrinich: I have attended 2 Prep Baseball Report Events. 2011 College Camp. PBR Underclass Invitational. I was impressed with how well organized the events were held and how great instructors handled each event.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?
Dobrinich: My biggest strength as a player would have to be mental toughness and heart. You see a lot of high school athletes get upset over a call or an error in the field. What really makes a baseball player depends on how he reacts with adversity, a mistake, or a call that didn’t go his way. What I have learned is the key to be successful during baseball is a short term memory. You have to forget about your mistakes and concentrate on getting the job done. Giving all you got every pitch, because you never know when it could be your last.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what are you most excited about this summer?
Dobrinich: I play for the Schaumburg Seminoles 16U National team (currently ranked #6 on perfectgame.org) What I am most excited about this summer would have to playing in Marietta, GA for the CABA World Series. We will get to face our rivals, the East Cobb Astros (currently ranked #1 on perfectgame.org), who we beat 2 out of 3 games last season.
PBR: What are your goals both individually and for your summer team for the rest of spring and summer?
Dobrinich: Individually, my goals for the summer are to get stronger, faster, and develop more collegiate level skills. The goal for our summer team is to win every single game, although it’s highly unlikely, that is the goal we are shooting for along with defending our title as the CABA World Series Champions. As for the spring, I would like to lead the Mount Carmel Sophomore team to a CCL (Chicago Catholic League) title.
PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?
Dobrinich: My most memorable moment in baseball so far in my life would was being named captain of the Mount Carmel Sophomore Baseball Team. Being a captain at Mount Carmel High School is a big accomplishment with the great success and tradition Mount Carmel Baseball has had in the past.
PBR: What are your stats so far in the High School season?
Dobrinich: At the leadoff spot in the lineup I am currently 24-48 with 12 walks and 3 HBP with well over 20 Stolen bases. BA Avg. (.500) OBP (.619) Only struck out 3 times in 19 games. I am 4-0 as a pitcher.
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter/pitcher that you have faced?
Dobrinich: Toughest hitter that I have faced so far would have to be a player from JCA who’s name I do not know. Toughest Pitcher faced this season would have to be Michael Bainbridge of Marian Catholic. I went 2 for 4 with the go ahead RBI Double off Bainbridge to take a 5-4 lead.
