On Oct. 25, the PBR Illinois staff hosted its final event of the year: the Underclass Showcase. This event was open to all of the state’s prospects in its 2023, 2024, and 2025 graduating classes, and allowed us to end the 2020 showcase circuit with a bang.

Our staff was treated to a look at some of the brightest up-and-coming talents in the state, and we began our event breakdown in the days that followed, when we published instant analysis in the form of our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis stories. We also began to publish scouting reports from this showcase on Monday, with the day’s catchers, and we’re onto the outfielders today.

This was an enlightening group of players, led by a pair of sophomores who look capable of making an impact the next time we update our state 2023 board. Mendota’s Krew Bond (2023) looks like an impact defender in the outfield, with quick feet and confident actions that are prepared to cover center field long-term. Bond also has compact strength in the right-handed batter’s box and generated bat speed efficiently, rounding out his profile well.

Another sophomore, St. Laurence’s Luke Stulga (2023), made a loud first impression for our staff at this event. A lanky 6-foot-2 athlete, Stulga produced premium bat speed for his age, and he repeats his right-handed swing well. Stulga also ran a 6.85 in the 60, suggesting there’s plenty more upside in this young athlete’s future.

Freshman Luke Jurack (Hinsdale Central, 2024) has showed a few times this past fall as a member to know in the state’s ‘24 class. A competitive, versatile player, Jurack presented a well-rounded set of tools at this event, some of the best among his fellow freshmen.

And it’s worth mentioning Henry Murray (N/A, 2025) here, too. We limited our rankings below to members of the 2023-24 classes, so he wasn’t qualified as a 2025, but Murray still made his mark as a name to know once he arrives on a high school campus next fall. A switch-hitter with a feel to hit from both sides that plays well beyond his years.
