Underclass Prospect Spotlight: 2013 Joe Ramstetter (RHP/Elder)

Joe Ramstetter

Last summer, Joe Ramstetter played for the 16U Cincinnati Flames, one of the most talented summer team’s at their age level in the Midwest.

While standout players like Zach Farmer, Tom Stoffel, and Cameron Whitehead attracted plenty of attention last summer, Ramstetter was shut down due to injury.

But, now that he is back and healthy, expectations are high for Ramstetter this spring and summer.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Cincinnati Elder possess a live arm with a fastball reaching up to 88 mph.

With the high school season approaching, Ramstetter notes, “Right now, I pitch indoors at my summer team’s facility twice a week. I also get instruction from former major league pitchers and coaches.”

Like any athlete returning from an injury, Ramstetter has some motivation and specific goals for the upcoming season.

“My goals are to get back at the velocity I was throwing before I got hurt, fix up my mechanics and learn a few more pitches.”

Looking ahead to the recruiting process, Ramstetter is focused on finding a school “with a good baseball program and good academics.”

Also, he does not have strong feeling when it comes to location.

“Distance could be a factor but most likely it wont be.”

Currently, Ramstetter carries a 3.6 GPA.

This summer, he will be playing for the 17U Cincinnati Flames and plans on participating in the PBR Top Prospect Games on June 4th-5th at Prasco Park.
