Scouting Report
Physical: 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. Strong, physical build.
Pitching: Starts with a leg lift above the waist with coil, gets into his back leg while shoulders stay over back side with a slight lean over the belt as stride to an open landing before accelerating through a repeatable release. Draws straight back out of the glove, quick arm action from there through a clean 3/4 release. FB: T87, 85-87 MPH. Has life through the zone flashing arm side run. CB: 70-69 MPH. Sharp 11-5 break. CH: 76-78 MPH. Slowed arm up a bit, late down action on one he kept arm speed.
6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to begin. Stays behind the baseball well and showed a fell for the barrel during a solid round of batting practice. Registered a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 7.62 60-yard dash. Displayed active feet and a soft glove hand defensively with accurate 83 mph arm strength across the diamond.
6-foot-4, 200-pound two-way prospect worked out solely as a pitcher on this date. Sat 80-84 out of a high 3/4 arm slot with balance throughout and a repeatable delivery. There is a small hook in back, but above average extension out front. Also showcased a curveball with sharp 11/5 rotation at 69-70 that he buried down in the zone repeatedly. LaBuda appears to be just beginning to fill into his above average frame and additional velocity is likely moving forward.
6-foot-4, 195-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel while releasing his top hand in his finish. A bit of a crouched stance neutralizes power potential in an above average frame. Registered a 78 mph bat exit velocity and showcased capable actions around the bag at first base with 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. Sat 78-80 off the mound from a high 3/4 arm slot. Also displayed a feel for his curveball with 11/5 rotation at 63-65.
