Scouting Report
Demonstrated advanced feel for an uber-athletic and physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame as the QB1 for McDowell’s football team made his presence known in all facets of the game. The left-handed hitter begins with a tall, slightly open stance with hand wiggle in the setup utilizing a knee-knock stride to initiate a fluid, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Showcased athleticism and present strength in the lower half allowing for quality hip-shoulder separation in the swing yielding noticeable pull-side lift during batting practice. Stayed on the ball well and showed advanced feel for the hands, recording an impressive 92 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.16 60-yard dash, displaying feel for his body. The primary outfielder featured advanced footwork with a quick first step and ability to take advantageous routes to the ball. Created downhill momentum towards the target during defensive evaluations using an accurate 82 mph arm-strength from a high ¾ arm-slot with athleticism in the arm-swing. Overall impressive day and should be a close follow in the ‘21 class.
Defensively, got behind and played through ball in air while following throws. Played ball on ground aggressively with good technique and confident glove hand.
6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitter initiates swing from neutral set up with controlled stride staying neutral. Separation, weight shift and hip turn are solid. Swing demonstrates balance, rhythm and athleticism. The hands work directly to the baseball achieving short swing path. Hand and hip quickness are evident at young age. Leverage is achieved through staying behind the baseball and releasing into a firm front side. Juchno projects as a middle of the order contact/power, run producing bat. He registered a bat exit velocity of 90 MPH and ran 6.78 60-yard dash.
Defensively, the primary OF flashed considerable athleticism to his actions. However, he would benefit from being more aggressive in playing through ball on ground while, staying in line and following throws.
At secondary SS position athleticism is again evident in range and area quickness. Hands are adequate and arm plays on left side.
Offensively, there is excellent balance, timing and rhythm to swing. A solid weight shift is followed by an aggressive hip turn and backside release into firm front side. Juchno works well away from his hands resulting in good separation. Bat is on plane early and late and good leverage is achieved at contact. Overall swing projects to play both to contact and power with continued strength gains. An 85 mph bat exit velocity was recorded.
