Uncommitted Spotlight: 2020 RHP Jacob Garner

 

 6-foot-5, 185-pound; RHP. On the mound, he used a high ¾ arm angle and a short arm action while showing quick arm speed. He is a tall-and-fall type pitcher. Showed a tall balance point before his delivery. He successfully located his changeup for a strike at 74-75 mph. His fastball was 78-82 mph and topped out at 82 mph; shows some action with running movement. His 12/6 curveball (61-62) had sharp action.

6-foot-5, 165-pound, RHP features prototypical pitcher size.  XL tall, long and lanky w/ lot of projection, little present strength.  Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber.  Gets a little bunched up as he enters his balance point w/ slight cocking action in the back of his arm swing.  Clean delivery, learning to repeat and control his body, gets a little mechanical at times instead of just letting his arm work.  Downhill angle.  Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  Big 12-6 downer CB w/ above average depth.  Can get loopy at times, come up out of his hand.  Sprayed the zone on this day, projects to control as he learns his body.  Generated 3 swing and misses on 13 swings.
