Uncommitted Prospect Watch - Aidan Newton

Report: Newton is a two way player who attended our Summer Showcase in Lethbridge this past August. Newton showed there that he is an immediate impact player at multiple places on the diamond.  In the box, Newton showed a compact, clean and repeatable swing that consistently found barrel and drove the ball to all fields.  A strong, imposing body at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds,  Newton shows a lot of athletic ability everywhere on the diamond.  He moves very well in the outfield and is strong in his ability to track down fly balls in the outfield.  A quick player with a very strong arm Newton shows his ability to make plays with his arm from the outfield as well.  This strong arm shows through when he’s on the mound, his fastball topped at 86 mph at the showcase from a consistent arm slot and with very clean, efficient movement from the mound.  Newton is working to sharpen his off-speed offerings in his curveball and changeups.  These already solid pitches are ever improving and Newton is a multi-dimensional very exciting player.
