An athletic right-hander - Pennington is on a short list of uncommitted '25s that have eclipsed the 90 mph mark on the fastball. Standing at 6-foot, 175 pounds with a frame consisting of lean muscle, the uncommitted junior routinely sits in the mid-to-upper 80s on a fastball that has been up to 90 mph. Pennington compliments the fastball with a two-plane breaking ball in the low-70s and the pitch has upside with continued development. Pennington will flash an upper-70s straight change and his athleticism also gives him the ability to drop to a sidearm slot, working more with the fastball/slider from that angle. The combination of athleticism and arm talent allows for an easier delivery and the ability to pitch from multiple slots adds deception & intrigue to the operation.
