Ultimate StrikeZone Tournament: Day Three Results
Mickeys Sleds vs. Central Michigan Stars (Championship Game)
Mickey’s got off to the early lead with two runs in the first, on an RBI double from Saginaw Valley State commit Austin Koin (Standish Sterling Central HS), and an RBI single from Kalamazoo Valley CC commit Tyler Wiechec.
The Stars would strike back in the bottom of the inning with Gabe Denton (Clare HS) driving in a run, to make the score 2-1 after one complete.
In the 4th, Stars shortstop 2017 Obie Ricumstrict (Mt. Pleasant HS) makes a great play in the hole at short to get the first out in the top of the fourth inning. Mickeys pushes a run across when Monte Petre (Meridian HS) gets hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make the score 3-1.
The Stars would come back yet again when Gabe Denton drives in his second run of the ball game on an RBI double to left field, making the score 3-2 after four complete.
Mickeys starting pitcher and Michigan State commit Mason Erla (Cass City HS) retires the final six straight Stars hitters to secure the win for Mickeys Sleds.

Midland-Berryhill vs. PK Prospects (Championship Game)
PK Prospects infielder and Hope College commit Nick Lepore (De La Salle HS) drives in Nate Bolotta (Anchor Bay HS) to score the first run of the ball game to make it 1-0.
In the 2nd, Berryhill’s Caleb Somerville (Bullock Creek HS) smashes a solo shot out to left field to tie the game at 1-1. The Prospects come back in the bottom of the inning to score two runs on an RBI single by David Quartuccio (Anchor Bay HS), and on a wild pitch, to make the score 3-1 after two complete.
Berryhill’s Derrek Clyde (Delta CC) leads off the third inning with a triple, and is driven in one batter later by Delta CC commit Jordan Dopp to make the score 3-2 after three complete.
Berryhill scores three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Marygrove commit Mike Battista (Parkway Christian HS), Justin Dewitt (Utica HS), and Bolotta (Anchor Bay HS) string together three straight hits in the bottom of the fourth to load the bases with no outs.
Berryhill’s Tony Robbins works out of the jam it allowing no runs to score, maintaining a 5-3 lead after four complete.
In the 6th, Jimmy Czarnik (Chippewa Valley HS) ties the game with two run single to left field. After a quick seventh inning, Jeremiah Altenburg (Calvary Baptist HS) drives in two more for Berryhill to send Jordan Dopp out to secure the win for Berryhill. Dopp would close out the final two frames, giving Berryhill the championship victory.
