Aciel Guillen SS / 2B / Salpointe Catholic , AZ / 2025Rankings StateRank: 42 / POS: 6
Guillen was the top all around performer at the Tucson Preseason ID this past Saturday, especially in the defensive portion. The 2025 grad showed high level actions with the glove, athleticism moving side to side and a strong arm across the diamond at 87 mph. At the plate Guillen has a square stance, toe tap load with an upper body that tends to work over the plate. Guillen showed a flat path and does a great job of working behind the baseball and working to the big part of the field. While Guillen is already one of the top underclassmen in the state, we feel that with added size and strength Guillen has the potential to be a Div 1 prospect.

Austin Cushman SS / RHP / Buena, AZ / 2025Cushman, a 2025 grad out of Buena high school, showed some impressive tools this past weekend. In the field Cushman showed smooth athletic actions with the glove and an above average first step. Cushman had the second highest infield velo on the day at 84 mph. At the plate he has a very simple middle of the field approach. Working a wide stance, an inside out bat path and slight scissor kick finish with the back leg. Overall Cushmans workout showed to be very impressive. With Cushman only being 135 pounds, added strength will play a major factor in his progression.

Damian Lorta 3B / 1B / Walden Grove , AZ / 2025Rankings StateRank: 41 / POS: 6
Lorta impressed on Saturday showing off the highest EV of the day at 100.4 mph. The 2025 grad had some impressive pop from the left side, showcasing a tall narrow stance with a high leg kick. The majority of Lorta’s power was to the pull side while being able to spray line drives to the middle and left center gap. Defensively Lorta moved very well and showed confidence in his glove and an 84 mph arm across the infield. Lorta is 5-11 with a stocky frame, projecting him to be on one of the corner infield positions at the next level. We look forward to following Lorta as he goes into his Sophomore season at Walden Grove.

Jackson Barlet C / 2B / Mica Mountain, AZ / 2025Barlet the 5-5 140 pound catcher out of Mica Mountain had an all around solid workout on Saturday. Behind the plate Barlet tied for the best pop time of the day at a flat 2.0, showing a clean transfer and 70 mph arm behind the dish. At the plate Barlet has a clean right handed swing, he stands athletic in the box with a good bend in the knees and simple leg lift load. Barlet will not wow you with his size and strength yet, however he did have a max EV of 86.3 with an above average contact tool. We look forward to following Barlet this spring and down the road as he continues to grow and gain strength.

Greg Mattison RHP / OF / Canyon View , AZ / 2024The RHP out of Canyon View high school turned heads on Saturday with one of the highest velocities on the day at 85.2 and a FB spin of 2300+. Mattison has 6-foot 155 pound frame with lots of room for added strength. He moves well down the mound with a clean over the top action. With the FB being Mattisons best pitch we would like to see some improvement with his secondary, as he tended to struggle in the zone. With some time spent in the weight room Mattison’s clean arm action is highly projectable to be a future 90 mph arm.

Brock MacDonald RHP / OF / Desert Vista, AZ / 20262026 grad Brock MacDonald had a very impressive pen on Saturday at the Tucson ID. The 5-foot-11 175 pound MacDonald showcased a clean ¾ slot action, with trackman numbers that jump off the charts. MacDonalds FB ranged from 80-82 with 2200+ spin, a BB that range from 68-70 with 2600+ spin and a CH that worked at the bottom of the zone with 1600 spin. MacDonald has the ability to spin a breaking ball and work at the bottom of the zone, we expect MacDonald to have high level strike out numbers come his freshman spring season. We look forward to following Brock this spring at Desert Vista.
