The 2022 New Year Open saw many talented players have standout rounds of BP, but no one had a better round than 2024 Jesse Dale of the Ontario Blue Jays. His ability to hit the ball on a line with authority was the most impressive aspect of his round. While his max EV on the day was 101.4 mph, his average EV on line drives was 97.2. Although the sample size only consisted of 4 batted balls, that kind of consistency and power is significant.
Another standout aspect of his round was his ability to square up balls at the top of the zone. On balls in the upper third of the zone, he produced an average EV of 95.5 and an average LA of 18.5.
If Dale can get the ball in the air a little bit more, he had an average LA of 11.5, he will be a guy a lot of opposing arms worry about with that kind of power and consistency. He will be one of our top follows this coming summer to see how this kind of production translates in-game.
