PBR Ontario Scouting Director
Throughout the month we look to highlight some of the top uncommitted talent. Below we would like to showcase three uncommitted middle infielders for everyone.
Top Uncommitted 2015 Middle Infielders
Royce Ando, Ontario Blue Jays, 2015
The 5-foot-11 middle infielder whose quickness and athleticism is on display every time he steps onto the field. Ando recently ran the 60-yard dash in 6.68 at Tournament 12 while showing his ability to hit at the top of the order and score runs. A base stealing threat as soon as he gets on, Ando is a heads up baserunner who makes smart decisions. In the field his arm is strong enough for any position, hands work with good actions, feet are quick and range plays. Agile lower half. At the plate makes consistent contact, puts ball in play. Line drive power, knows his game and his approach. Hard worker who will make needed corrections to be as best as possible.
Jaiden Hill, Toronto Mets, 2015
5-foot-9, 170-pound middle infielder from the Toronto Mets. Continued to get better week-to-week last year. Hands are smooth with quick transfer, strong arm with on-line carry. Lower half works, smooth around the bag and turning double play. At the plate Hill shows line drive stroke with gap-to-gap power. At times can be to pull aggressive, at best when approach is middle of field and can spray the ball. With continued hard work, Hill could step up to be one of the elite middle guys in the province.
JD Williams, Ontario Blue Jays, 2015
Williams is a toolsy second baseman for the Ontario Blue Jays. Dirtbag type player, does all the little things that coaches love. High baseball I.Q. hits behind runners, produces quality at-bats and is a tough out in the box. Can surprise with power every now and then. Runs well, base stealing threat, athletic and agile, hands and feet work at second. Arm is playable for right side of infield, more in the tank. Also will play centre field, splits time with club team. Plays game the right way with no fear approach. Receiving interest from Oklahoma State.
