Top Ten Profiles of 2021: No. 4 Drayk Bowen

Indiana Staff

Drayk Bowen (Andrean HS, 2023) had the fourth most viewed profile in 2021. One of the better football recruits in the country, Bowen looked just as impressive on the diamond during this year's Future Games. The 6-foot-2, 215 pounder has committed to Notre Dame to play both football and baseball. Bowen is ranked 8th in Indiana's 2023 class and No. 363 nationally.

Scouting Report

7/31/21 Future Games: One of the better football recruits in the country, Bowen looked just as impressive on the diamond during the Future Games. 6-foot-2, 215-pounds with obvious athleticism, the frame is elite, and his 6.55-speed more than shows up in game. The right-handed swing has made excellent strides the first time that I saw him with the hands now working more fluidly which allows his strength and athleticism to show up in covering the plate with eye-opening bat speed. There is present power to the pull side, and considering the progress that he has already made, the upside and future potential appears immense. An athlete on the infield, I suspect the continued power development will allow Bowen to play any position on the dirt or ultimately shift to the outfield to allow his speed to roam. Bowen checks a lot of boxes for college coaches now, and should he make another jump over the next year, he will be checking a lot of boxes for professional scouts who will greatly value his athleticism and power potential.

3/06/21: Very strong, athletic, powerful frame with agility and quickness. Physical looking athlete that exudes power and strength now. As a RH hitter, he stands tall and erect to start his swing. Hands shoulder height and leads with a turned in front knee kick with slight tap to ground before his strides reaches out. This tap keeps him back behind the baseball and creates his timing to his swing. Displays good bat speed and extension to his swing with solid contact to barrel with explosion finish. Projects to have power in the future as he continues to mature as a hitter. Ran a 6.92 60-yard dash time with smooth gliding running style. Upright posture running style with strong strides. His hands are soft and had a good glove to hand release to throw the baseball from the left side of diamond. His footwork was quick and swift. Showed glove side range with ease. Defensive ability is transferrable to the OF in future as his athletic profile will allow him chances to play all over the diamond. The combination of power and speed and tools makes Bowen a very interesting prospect in baseball. He is a gifted football player on a national level so time will tell. Bright future in the game of baseball either way.
