Assistant State Director
The Colorado Top Prospect games are 2 days away and we would like to spotlight some of the participants at this years event. Over the course of the next few days Prep Baseball Report Colorado will run Q&A's with many of the participants giving you a chance to get to know them better. Continuing our look is Jake Haze, 2018, 5-foot-8, 160-pound, SS/3B from ThunderRidge High School.
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Haze: I would describe myself as an elite 5 tool player from both sides of the plate who plays the game comfortably and passionately.
PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Haze: As an incoming high school sophomore, I would love to play for Arizona or ASU. However, I really would want to find out more about the coaching and team philosophies and the school’s academic options.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Haze: My on-field strengths are the 5 tools, equally. Off the field, I’m an easy going guy that can get along with everyone, understand the importance of education and am very goal-oriented.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Haze: My Varsity Coach recently encouraged me to maintain a steady head; being calm on the field and not letting umpires, coaches, parents and other players get to me.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Haze: Before each game, I eat a Snickers candy bar.
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: 950+ fielding percentage and 350 batting average
Two Years: Lead my High School team to the 5A State Championship and win
Four Years: Have the best batting average and most RBI’s on my college team
