Assistant State Director
The Colorado Top Prospect games are 2 days away and we would like to spotlight some of the participants at this years event. Over the course of the next few days Prep Baseball Report Colorado will run Q&A's with many of the participants giving you a chance to get to know them better. Continuing our look is Cody Kohl, 2017, 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, RHP/3B from ThunderRidge High School.
PBR: Describe yourself as a baseball player to those who have never seen you play:
Kohl: When I’m on the mound I’m competitive and hardworking, always looking to improve my skills and turn mistakes into learning experiences. I’m a supportive player and love to boost the spirits and confidence of my teammates. I hustle at all times and I think my love for the game really shows.
PBR: What would be your dream school to play baseball at? If you have already committed to play at the next level, why did you choose that particular school?
Kohl: I don’t really have a specific school that I’m targeting at this time, but my dream school is anywhere I can play baseball in a competitive, learning environment, and where I can bring something special to the team.
PBR: What are your best assets on and off the field at this point in your high school career?
Kohl: I’m humble and big-hearted, and as an athlete I’m strong and eager to learn.
PBR: What is the best baseball advice you have received and try to follow to this point in your career?
Kohl: I’ve had so many great coaches and mentors, and I’ve been given a lot of great advice, but I’ve learned that having confidence in myself and my abilities is one of the most important.
PBR: What are your superstitions or routines that go on during a season?
Kohl: I wear compression leggings and a compression shirt to every game and practice. I believe that the slightly awkward feeling helps keep me focused on the important things.
PBR: What are your goals for:
This Season: To work hard academically and on the baseball field to be a valuable contributor to my high school varsity team as we pursue a state championship.
Two Years: Continue to work hard academically and physically to be the best student athlete I can be.
Four Years: In 4 years I’d like to be a starting pitcher for the varsity team of whatever college I end up at and to help lead them to a winning, productive season.
