The '23 RHP/OF Ryan Cavanaugh (Harry S. Truman) is by far one of the more intriguing arms in his class. The Radford commit is ranked as the 28th RHP in his class in PA and flashes a high level, hoppy fastball at 88 MPH. The primary RHP also splits some time in the outfield and runs it up to 93 MPH off the crow hop. What turns heads though, is when Cavanaugh gets on the bump. The lean, wiry RHP is quick with his pace down the mound and is max effort at foot strike. Cavanaugh's are is electric. With this, he is able to post a heater that sits 86-87 and peaks at 88 MPH. From his low release, the ball rides well and finds its home in the top of the zone where he surely generates swings and misses. The CB is very sharp, more similar to a slider than a big, loopy breaking ball. With this pitch thrown with his FB intent, there is no doubt he keeps hitters off balance. Cavanaugh is then able to pull a string on a 82 MPH changeup with quite a bit of ASR. The wiry RHP has a good frame to add to, and a high velocity ceiling with the arm speed he already possesses.
