Top 2016 Prospects from Ohio's Pre-Season Underclass



Today, we recap the top prospects from the Class of 2016 at the first Pre-Season Underclass Showcase in Dayton, Ohio at Sinclair Community College. These prospects have earned invitations to the Underclass Games in July at The Ohio State University. This invitation only event, which attracted over 50 scouts in 2012, will feature the top prospects from the Classes of 2015-2017 in the State of Ohio.

Zach Bowden, RHP/INF, St. Francis DeSales HS, Class of 2016

6-foot-1, 150-pound prospect with two-way potential. Shows plenty of physical projection in long, lanky body. Ran 7.39 60-yard dash. Has good infield actions with hands and arm strength (75 mph) Needs to enhance footwork. Right-handed hitter with upright stance. Triggers hands from shoulder with controlled upper cut bat path. Has good hand finish and power bat potential will enhance with more lower body torque. Right now, he shows the most potential on bump. Displays high arm backside extension with quick arm speed through 3/4 slot. Fastball shows late life, ranging 79-82 mph. Has some feel on downward tilt curve (68-70 mph) and arm action on change (73-74 mph).

Noah West, SS/2B, Westerville Central HS, Class of 2016

5-foot-10, 145-pound athlete that shows soft hands defensively with good arm strength (76 mph) at this stage of his development. Needs to enhance footwork. Ran 7.03 60-yard dash. Right-handed batter that hits from upright stance. Makes contact despite flat plane path. Needs more top hand in swing and lower body torque. Needs to continue to develop strength and improve offensive skills as he matures.
