Top 10 Viewed Player Profiles for 2014: No. 4 - Tyler Solomon

Over the next week we are going to countdown the 2014 calendar year with a look at the top ten viewed player profiles of 2014. After drilling down into our Google Analytics we have compiled a list of the ten most visited profiles by you the reader in 2014.

Coming in at No. 4 on our list of most viewed profiles is Battlefield High School’s Tyler Solomon. Solomon is a 6-foot-4, 215 pound, switch-hitting Catcher/1B who is committed to play at Vanderbilt. He is currently ranked 3rd in the Virginia Class of 2017 and 20th Nationally.

No. 4:  Tyler Solomon 6-foot-4, 215 pound, Catcher/1B, 2017 (Vanderbilt)

The Vanderbilt commit has a huge upside with a big frame and raw power from both sides of the plate.  He has the ability to remain behind the plate or move to the corners with his size and athleticism. 

Report from the Top Prospect Games:  Switch-hitting Catcher/1B. Left-handed hit from a wide stance that was balanced with low hands. Power present now, short to the baseball, stayed on backside well, had great extension. Posted an exit velocity of 90 mph off of the tee. Right-handed, hit from a wide stance with low hands.  Had a line drive approach that stayed in the middle of the field. Had minimal movement, slight rhythm, stayed through the baseball with a gap-to-gap approach.  Defensively, Solomon is a huge target behind the plate. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot. Moves well out of the crouch, has a short arm arc, quick feet, and a quick transfer. Has average arm straight with a 68 mph positional velocity. Posted pop times of 2.16 to 2.26.
